Calling all young musicians grade 3-8+!
Join us at Leeds Conservatoire on Sunday 29th March for a day of FREE workshops and music making. Sessions on offer include:
- Be a Film Music Student for the Day (age 14+)
In this session, Andy Barraclough, tutor on the film music degree course at Leeds Conservatoire, will give an insight into what it is like to be a film music student for the day. This workshop is suitable for older students aged 14+ who are interested in learning more about studying film music, what it involves, and where it could lead.
- Play with the Band of the Royal Yorkshire Regiment (percussion, wind and brass players grade 4+)
The Band of the Royal Yorkshire Regiment will offer a day of concert band playing for wind and brass players at grade 4+. There will be a chance to play alongside members of the band, enhance your skills under experienced leadership, and focus on ensemble musicianship and playing. The band will also share what it is like to be a musician in the army. At the end of the day, parents/carers are welcome to attend a short performance.
- Practice and Performance: Tom Evans (all singers & instrumentalists grade 3+)
Experienced examiner, tutor, and musician Tom Evans, will lead a session focusing on practice and performance. In the morning, there will be opportunities to discover new practice strategies and approaches. In the afternoon, some students will give performances to see how effective practice strategies can support performances. This workshop is ideal for anyone preparing for a performance, such as an exam, recital, or audition.
All sessions are full day workshops, and attendee must choose one session to attend only, ensuring they meet the age/playing-level requirements for their chosen session. Please note suggested grade levels are playing level, students do not need to have passed any grade exams to attend.
